I'm a little more country than that

i went to a country fest with my brothers in indio. this take place the weekend after Coachella and having gone twice to coachella i knew that it was going to be blazing hot during the day.

i always like to dress according to the weather so that i know i am going to be comfortable and cute!

i had it stuck in my head that i wanted to wear a dress, i thought it was very country. I found this one at target and purchased it as my stagecoach dress.

When we were getting ready that morning i kept trying to see if i was really going to be ok in a dress ALL day. I sat on the floor, tried bending over (you never know what you will have to do at a country fest) and decided I would be much more comfy if I wore my "she cuts" under the dress. After a quick approval from chaunce that it all looked good. I was good to go.

Now i know you saw "she cuts" and thought "what are those". They are probably one of my favorite purchases I have made. I bought them to wear to coachella the first time and then wore them when i went for the second time and now they have become the go to festival outfit. I believe we started calling them she cuts because Lindsey took a pair of jeans and cut them herself into shorts and I said, "ya she cut them" and now we refer to shorts that look like they were once jeans "she cuts". If that is not the story you remember please help me!

In the end I was very happy with my stagecoach outfit. We did see about 5 other girls in the same dress but I guess you should expect that when you buy something from Target.

Hipster or Homeless?

This is a fun game that I love to play. Where do I play it? Anywhere, people watching on Melrose or in my own living room.

After not seeing brother for a week she comes over in this outfit and I clearly had to ask if she was a hipster or homeless.

The hipster elements to her outfit were the Toms and the panda beanie. The sweater could be hipster if not paired with those pants. The combo made her straight homeless. Yes, she was only wearing this outfit to come over for dinner but I still had to judge, cause that's what I do.

Now when Lisa wore the Panda hat with a regular cute outfit it was totes hipster and acceptable at Tiki Ti. She fit right in.

I challenge all of you to play hipster or homeless next time you are out and tell me how much fun it was.

Going to the Chapel...

...no not me. brother went to the chapel.

As much as people thought it was my wedding..my beautiful brother got married on March 27 and I was the maid of honor.

I think one of the most important duties of the maid of honor is picking out the bridal party dresses. that is if the bride allows you to and luckily my bro was not an uber crazy bride and was pretty relaxed when it came to this...of course I wanted to go with Jcrew and the color that we went with was oh so pretty.

as much as i looked forward to finding THE dress it was quite the process to get us to THE wedding day.

The dress you see here was not the first dress I bought. it was the second but had to go through some alterations to be the perfect dress, so that I looked almost as pretty as the bride.

i am so happy with the final outcome. If it weren't for an amazing dinner two nights before with the "a-list" where i stated i wanted to be a "hipster maid of honor". how was this going to get accomplished? we weren't quite sure how we were going to do my hair so the decision was made to add a headband and go from there. BEST DECISION EVER. the hair was perfect the dress w/ the straps all came together and i think i pulled it off.

it has been two weeks since the wedding but i don't want to stop talking about..so here it can live on a little longer.

Backstreets Back...Alright!

April 9th

It seems like a couple fellow bloggers and myself had taken a hiatus from posting and now we are all back.

I'm going go take it back to a fab weekend I spent in SD w/ Jules. this outfit just screams HIPSTER in Training!

It consists of flat boots, blazer and hipster scarf. The sun shades and over the shoulder purse also add to the outfit.

This just happened to be the perfect outfit to go see An Education. I felt like i was in Europe. this was the day that inspired my bangs. THE best day.

Ok so I'm just getting back in the groove..few more posts to come to catch me up to present time.

March 9

Due to recent incidents in my oh so dramatic life, I have not felt the need to get up and pick a cute outfit. I don't think you can even call what I am wearing today an outfit, it is just something to wear so I am not in sweats. I do believe I look more homeless than a hipster today. I would not dare post a picture of today's outfit so I put one from Sunday where my head looks uber hipster.

I have not been blogging due to the lack of inspiration to be cute and care about my outfit but then I read Chelsea's post and that was the motivation I needed to blog again.

I'm hoping my new determination to get fit will inspire me to be the fashionista I desire to be. I took my first class at Pop Physique today with Chell Bell and I also signed up for 6 pilates classes . With both of these making my body lean and long clothes should just look AMAZING on me!

Hopefully I will have some more hipster outfits to post soon.

I don't only get my hand me downs for Lindsey, I'd say I have been wearing clothes that belonged to Rachelle for many many years!

When this girl cleans out her closet you want to be the first person in line! Behind me that is!

Here I am wearing one of her tops that as you can see she used to wear and this shirt is FAMOUS!

I hope to run into David Spade wearing this shirt and he mistakes me for Rachelle, I would not correct him!

She Bangs, She Bangs!

New Do, New Me!

Can I just tell you how much movies inspire my real life..well apparently a lot! This weekend I watched three, that's right three, movies on Sunday and all of them had leading ladies with bangs. I think it was during 500 days of summer I looked over at Jules and said "I want bangs" she said ok and ran off to the kitchen to get scissors. We were both giddy with excitement that I thought we were drunk, so I asked her to confirm that we were both sober. And we were!

Here I am right after the new cut with my new sparkly head band from Target! ( I think I'm a supermodel)

Ok so this is not the most flattering picture but you can see the BANGS and the outfit so I was ok with settling with this one!

This is my outfit today, which I must say, I am bummed I wasted a good outfit on a Tuesday when no one sees me! I might sound cocky saying this is a good outfit but by my standards I like it! I love the layers and the new necklace that I got as a pressie for Olga. The cardi (also a new purchase from Target) is super comfy and long enough to cover my butt (uber important in the cardigan world).

Silver Lining

I love hand me downs and I love my Chaunce.

I was so sad when I found out Chauncey was moving to Denver but there was a plus side; the bags and bags of clothes she was getting rid of.

I was so excited to go through all the clothes and find hidden treasures.

So many of her tops and sweaters that I had always wished were mine actually are now!

This top is one of the great pieces that I got. I love it for soo many reasons. Let me count the ways...

1. It is not a solid color

2. the beautiful gold belt

3. it is long enough to wear with leggings

4. it is semi hipsterie

ok that is all that i can think of now...but isn't it a great top!

I'm sorry if you want it back now because I have made something old to you new to me!

Yes, I know both of these pics are not of me but just wait for the explanation.

Whenever wearing black and gray, I feel it is nice to throw in some color to spice up the outfit.

I went to Olga's closet for the red flats and red bangle! Just a hint of color and I felt my outfit was a hit! As for my hair, I had the side bun again!

Speaking of side buns, the last time I did one and posted a pic it inspired a reader to do one as well. I demanded she send me a picture, after she made me ask politely I was sent the pic and told her it would appear in a post. Since my mind is consumed with work right now and I can't be clever or witty here is the beautiful chaunce with her side bun!

Love Don't Cost a Thing

Wedding Planner - Just call me JLo

Today was not only a crazy day at work but also brother's tasting in Redondo Beach for the wedding. That means try to look like a professional mouse.

The only thing that got me through this day was loving my outfit.

I'm going to let you in on a little secret. I am OBSESSED with white and black and green. these three colors together make me soo happy! If I were to have a wedding (after today those chances are slim to none) these would be my wedding colors. I just love this top! (thank you Jules for making me buy it)
Feeling good in your outfit can just make or break or day.

I take my brother's wedding planning very seriously, so I thought I should look the part. Not only that but I had to run a meeting where I was the only woman in a room filled with 8 men. So liking my outfit def gave me the confidence I needed to pretend like I knew what I was doing.

Sunshine

That is the word that best describes Erin Hogeboom! She is a beam of light! I am so happy that she is back in the US and that I get to spend time with her. I feel lucky that I can call her my friend. She is an amazing person and I might just make this whole blog about her! ahaha I just had to share how happy she makes me and I am thrilled that I get to hang out with her a few more times during her stay in SoCal.
All morning I was thinking about my blog and the role it has in my life and ALL those who read it. I know I am not talking about life changing or even important things. I'm talking about fashion and my life really. But I do hope that it brings a smile to your face when you read it, because that will make me feel like I have accomplished something.
My last few outfits have not been blog worthy, but I promise to have on a good one tomorrow!

Day Outfit

Oh the predicament of turning a day outfit into a night outfit.

Tonight, I have the pleasure of celebrating my friend's bday in WeHo and don't have time to go home and change from work.

Luckily, I work at a place where I can get away w/ being a hipster in training.

So I started with the go to leggings and THE boots and needed a top to go with it. I found this dress from target that was perfect. To make it "work appropriate" I added this cover up from Banana .

Night Outfit

to turn this into a night outfit all I have to do is take off the cover up and pull down the dress a little. Tada! I'm ready to dance with the boys in WeHo tonight!

I'll keep you posted if I get any in THE boots, prob not because most of boys will be looking for other boys tonight!

Dirty PoP!

Feb. 10

Every night I go to sleep wondering what outfit I will wear the next day. I'm hoping that as I sleep the vision will come and I will wake up knowing what to wear. That did not happen this morning so I needed something else to inspire me. The sun is out so it made me want to wear some color.

You can't tell but my scarf is yellow (xmas present from chaunce)..this would be the hipster element to today's outfit. It is a very long circle scarf that you can wear many ways..this is the only way I have mastered.

Then for the pop to the traditional brown and black combo i love I added a green tank.

When I got to work to take my pic I was told that I look very rasta w/ my colors. but that's ok cause i love my mamma and will represent Jamaica anytime!

you also can't really tell but i do have a side bun that i have been rocking quite frequently and am obsessed with.

but WHAT is a hipster?

So the blogging begins!
This idea to start a blog chronicling what I wear is not original.I wish I came up with it but I do give credit where credit is deserved. Another blog I am reading is doing this and I just thought it was the best way to get use of ALL the clothes in my closet.
But what made me actually do this was my most recent vacay to vegas with my besties! Four girls, one room, one closet and four suitcases filled with amazing clothes. As we are all pulling out what we brought (many sparkly tops) the looks I was getting were not all that approving. Just not Vegas enough. Then came the shoes. Brooke had her amazing sparkly heels and Jules had her hooker heels and Chel had some other super high heels and then I pulled out my boots...THE boots. The perfect pair of brown flat boots..the reaction I got was "but WHY would your bring flat boots to vegas" my response "because i'm a hipster". Then came the quote of the trip.."no one wants to fuck a girl in flat boots" and the question of the trip "what is a hipster?"
I am here to do two things; 1. prove that someone wants a girl in flat boots and 2. become a hipster.
I will post outfits, try to define what a hipster is and chronicle if i get any action in my flat boots!

This being my first post please don't judge. I hope in time they will get better. I just want to get started. Please don't mind the poor grammar. I am really just typing and trying to be clever not doing this for a grade (ok teacher mouse??)
